Pay per click (PPC) marketing refers to an Internet marketing model where advertisers pay the host website when their ad is clicked on by a user. This method of advertising is commonly used by search engines, whereby you bid to sponsor keywords (or phrases), and social websites like facebook, where you bid to advertise to a targeted group of users based on their profile information.
With Google’s advertising programme, Google Adwords, you can pay to either appear in the search results (labelled as ‘ads’) or within the website pages of millions of partner sites that carry ‘ads by Google’. This is known as content placements.
